Dalian niversity ofTechnology, Dalian 116024, China) Abstract: The suction bucket foundation for offshorew ind turbines is subjected to not only vertical loading caused by structuralw eight and horizontal loading andm omentdue tow indorwaveinduced loading, but also torque from rotor blades, as opposed to the foundation for offshore oil production platforms. Based on sw ipe test loading m ethod and fixed displacem ent ratio loading m ethod, a combined loaddisplacement searching m ethod is proposed. tilizing the proposedmethod, three dmi ensional finite elem ent numerical analyses are conducted to explore the failuremechanisms of bucket foundation in different loading planes, such as VH , VT, H T and in VH T loading space under outof plane combined lading. The failure envelopes in different loading spaces are obtained. According to the relationship between the actual combined loading and the computed failure envelopes, the stability of bucket foundation could be evaluated.
