I’ve learned to adopt an interdisciplinary and data-based approach to a subject as divisive and as resistant to objective analysis as note-taking in consecutive interpreting. I’ve acquired new knowledge and fine-tuned my research methodology along the way. All these would not have been possible were it not for the people who have always supported me. First and foremost, I’m grateful to the professional instruction and insightful advice from Professor Zhu Ping, my supervisor. She encouraged me to think out of the box and see the activity of interpreting from an interdisciplinary perspective.
