AbstractCognitive Abstract Cognitive styles refer to the individual differences brought out in the course of organizing and processing informatiofi，which is regarded as the bridge between the two major traditional research fields in psychology————eognition and individuality．People tend to show differences in the course of their eognition，wbile this individual difference is constant．ERPs is the totality of potentials in posterior synapses and reflects the signals of electroencephalographic activitios simultaneous with stimulation．The ERPs technology is a valuable means to further investigate the cerebral mechanism of individuals with different cognitive styles in the course of information processing．By using such means and technology as behavioral performance，ERPs and ERt’ topography，this research discusses the electroencephalographic activities during the course of various tasks by individuals with different cognitive styles，including the unanimouj judgment of graphics， face cognition，Chinese vocabulary processing and so on．The diseussion thiS issue helps to make clear，both in time and in space，the cerebral mechanism of individuals with different cognitive styles in the course of information processing，further OHF understanding of the individual differences and have a better COremand of the individual differences between people in the course of information processing． What the research resuits showed are aS follows：(1)In a task on the unanimous judgment of graphiCS involving wholistiC-analytie strategy， the difference of peak—to—peak between N85 and P160 in the frontal pole and the central area of the field—dependent individuals is more than that of the field—independent：and the amplitude of the N120 in the occipital area of the field～dependent is higher than that of the field—independent， which indicates that the field—dependent have made more profound V processing processing at the early stage of the visual information processing in the task of c
