Step One Warm-up
Listen to the song “What’s your favourite season?”
After the song, answer the questions:
How many seasons are there in a year?
What are they?
Which season do you like best? Why?
Step Two Presentation
Look and answer
Show the picture about New Year’s Day, then ask the Ss:“When is New Year’s Day?
The teacher help Ss answer: “It’s in January.”Teach the pronunciation of “January”, read it after the teacher.
Show the picture about “winter vacation”, and ask “When is winter vacation?” Lead to answer:“January and February. Try to answer : “ It’s in February.”
Show some pictures about “Tree Planting Day”, then ask the Ss, “ Do you know the tree planting day? And When is it?” Answer “It’s in March.”
This month we have a sports meet in our school. So when is sports meet? Lead to answer “It’s in April”. Then ask the Ss:“Are there any other special days in April? Tell them the special day about Easter.
Show the picture and say :“We have a special day about mother next month. Do you know “What is it?” Lead to “Mother’s Day”.“When is Mother’s Day?” “It’s in May.”
“Are there any special days in May?”
Show the pictures “singing contest ”, “school trip” and “May Day”.
The teacher says: “There is a special day about you. What is it?” “Children’s Day.” “When is Children’s Day?” The Ss answer, “It’s in June.”
“Are there any special day in June?” Lead to “Father’s Day”
Step Three Practice
Make sentences
Show the calendar about the six months, show the sentence: “We have New Year’s Day in January.
We have … in …
Let Ss make sentences like this.
