Methods The clinical data of inpatients with candiduria in Bethune Internat ional Peace Hospit al during 20 02 to 2 004 w ere reviewed and analyzed retrospectively , inclu- ding sex , age, main underlying diseases, anti iotic use, antifungal treatment as well as outcome. Results Fifty-three patients were identified w ith candiduria during the specified period. Most ( 64. 1%) of these patients were female. Main underlying dis- eases were dia etes mellitus ( 39 . 6 %) . Anti iotic use efore isolat ion of Cand ida in urine w as found in 96 . 2 % of the patients. Of these patients, 56. 6% had previous act eriuria, 35 . 8% had urinary catheter. T he candiduria was due to Candid a albicans in 2 1/ 53 ( 4 3. 4%) pat ients and due to non-al icans in 3 0/ 53 ( 56. 6 %) patients. Antifungal therapy w as initiated in 81. 1% of the patients after isolat ion of Candida in urine. Fluconazole ( 4 9. 1%) was the most frequently prescri ed drug . Conclusions Dia etes me
