Early diagnosis is essential for improving the 5-year survival rate of lung cancer. Most central-type lung cancer can easily be visualized by bronchoscopy and pathological diagnosis is readily available. On the contrary, peripheral pulmonary carcinoma can seldom be accessible using bronchoscopy, thus the positive rate is low. We performed MPR to analyze the relationship between peripheral pulmonary carcinoma (PPC) and adjacent bronchi, thus guided the bronchoscopic multiple diagnostic procedures in attempt to enhance the yield of PPC. Methods Seventy-four PPC cases were enrolled from Respiratory Department and Department of thoracic surgery in the JingJiang Peoples Hospital from March 2010 to March 2013. All patients underwent MSCT scans. Images were reconstructed with MPR to evaluate the relationship between PPC and bronchi，and the types of BS were summarized. We performed bronchoscopy on each patient, then the diagnostic yields of bronchoscopy using multiple diagnostic procedure (including transbronchial lung biopsy, brushing, bronchoalveolar lavage, transbronchial needle aspiration) were studied.
