Me?hods： A rat model of COPD isРestablished by tocacco smoke inhalation and intratracheally administered lipoponysaccxaride((LPS).The rats are random|y divided into 6 groups: control group, model group, Manzhikechua.ning capsuLe mow lose group, Manzhikechuanning capsule0moderate dose group, Manzhikechuanning capsule high dose group, Qiguanyan pill group.`The degree of alveolar structural damage is obóerved by HE stained pathological sections. Apoptosis ofpulmonary cells and the effect of Mqnzèikechuanning capsule on them are meastred by flow cytometry. Resul?s： The degree of alveolar□s?ruct?ral damige of!model group rat□ is significantly higher than those in control group (P0.01)，and□the ?poptosis in rat pulm 聯 nary cells o□ model grou□ rats is significantly h□gh□r than those kn cont□ol group (P0.01). The alveolar structural damage and the apoptosis of pulmonary cells also exhibit a significantly positive correlation with each other. Manzhikechuanning capsule significantly reduced the extent of alveolar structural damage (PO.01), and there is dose-dependent manner (P0.01). Manzhikechuanning capsule can reduce the level of pulmonary cells apoptosis (PO.05), and there is dose-dependent manner (PO.05). Conclusions： Tobacco smoke inhalation and intratracheally given LPS can establish COPD model in rats successfully. The expression level of pulmonary cells apoptosis in COPD rats is increased significantly which also exhibits a positive correlation with the degree of alveolar structural damage.
