The two questionnaires are: the questionnaire of cognitive styles is taken from Index ofLearning Styles (Soloman Felder) (Felder,2002; Felder Silverman, 1988); the English writing strategies questionnaire is taken from Hu Pinbrping (2006) and it is actually designed according to Oxfo时s (1990) framework of the system of learning strategy. Thc fourth part processcs thc data,discusses and analyzes the data. First of all, according to the data processed by the SPSS 17.0,descriptive statistics are used to describe the subjects cognitive styles preference and English writing strategies used by the subjects in their Eng1ish writing. Then,lhe descriptive statistics are also used to compare English writing strategies among the learners of different cognitive styles. At last,the correlation analysis is used to test the significance of the relationship between cognitive styles and English writing strategies. Thus,the m勾or findings of the study can be concluded. The 盯住h part is concerned with pedagogical suggestions for English writing teaching. The sixth part is concerned with the conclusion and the limitations of the study. 3 Chapter Two Literature Review ln order to understand the theories in this study,relevant research and theories are reviewed in this chapter,including the definitions ,classifications and relevant researches of cognitive styles and English writing strategies,and some reviews about learning strategies. 2.1 A review of cognitive styles Many scholars have used different kinds of definitions and classifications of cognitive styles and they have presented a lot of research results about cognitiv巳 styles. Here,the thesis will present them one by one. 2.1.1 Definitions of cognitive styles Cognitive style has been one study field in general psycho logy and educational psychology.
