He was the first person to integrate the local nonverbal intelligence test and the industrial psychology into China culture. Learning from experience of the America measurement movement, Liu successfully achieve the legal localization of non-verbal intelligence test in China by comb ini ng the non-verbal intel lige nee tes t and actual situation in China t hat noted for illiteracy and multi - dialcc ts at t hat mom ent. Besides, Liu made great efforts to make non-verbal intelligence test universal in China. As the pioneer and disseminator of Chinese vocational guidance campaign, he facilitated the development of vocational guidance movement by employing occupational self-trial table and the professional and physical development theory. At the same time, in order to promotc the development of the vocational education in China, Liu did deep researches in Europe and America， industrial psychology, and interweaved the psychologic tests and the occupational analysis. Liu, 1896-1938)，湖北阳新人。中国近代著名的教育家、 心理学家、抗日革命烈士。刘湛恩出生于一个乡村基督教家庭，身世贫苦。从汉 阳小学到九江同文学院，至保送苏州东吴大学，一直名列前茅。1918年毕业于 东吴大学医学预科后，在美国女传教士 Brettheiuer博士的帮助下，刘湛恩赴芝 加哥Rush医学院留学。但受“教育救国”思想影响，他毅然放弃了医学，进入 芝加哥大学攻读教育学，1920年获得硕士学位，后入哥伦比亚大学师范学院学 习，得到美国教育名家Monroe的指
