It has been off the endangered species list for decades. With more ranchers in the U.S. turning to raising buffalo, they now number approximately 350,000. Iron Horse Apocalypse(啟示) portrays the westward expansion of the railroad system and the effects it had on the Native Americans, their land, and the buffalo. This image accurately captures the dominant American ideology that was manifest in westward expansion. Notice the Native Americans in the bottom left corner peacefully accepting their removal westward. After the American Revolution, the new Treaty of Paris of 1783 officially revoked the Indian Proclamation Line. Natural barriers, like the Ohio River, were again used as boundaries between white settlements and Indian Country. After the Civil War, the Five Nations were forced to cede their western lands and tribes from the Great Plains .By 1876, Indian Territory had shrunk to what is now the state of Oklahoma. THE HISTORY OF COTTON This display explains the advance of the cultivation of cotton from the Eastern seaboard westward which was greatly facilitated by the invention and widespread use of steamboats and railroads.
