So peop le naturally raise the problem : w hen does a global classical solution ex ist? H ence, th ere are theoretical an d practical needs to study the ex istence of g lobal classical solu tion s. In th is paper, w e study the case th at the inhom ogeneou s term is th e general form of F (t,x). F irst of all, w hen the system is linearly degenerate and the inhom oge? neou s term is independent of t, w e prove the ex istence of global classical so lu tion s to C auchy prob lem for general first order inhom ogeneou s quasilinear hyperbo lic sy s? tem s for sm all enough L 1 norm of inhom ogeneous term and first order derivative of in itial value. W e also dem onstrate th e global existence of classical solutions to C au chy prob lem for general first order inhom ogeneous quasilinear hyperbolic system s in the hypothesis of w eakly linearly degenerate. The form ulas on th e decom position of w aves p lay an im portant role in our discu ssion. W e first give the refine form u las on the de? com position of w aves under the assum ption of linearly degenerate and w eakly linearly degenerate respectively, w hen the inhom ogeneous term is the general form of F {t. x).
