工程制图基础Chapter 4 Surface Intersections.ppt

In engineering, the accurate representation of the interse-cting surfaces is very important since precise assembly is necessary for function and appearance. This chapter will cover the basic types of intersections and representing ways of the intersections in three views.  1 Fig.4.1 Intersection of a cutting plane and a polyhedron. 2 In plane geometry, it is known that any two planes either must be parallel or they must intersectant, even if the intersection falls beyond the limites of the plane as given. The intersection of two planes is a straight line common to the planes and its position is therefore determined by any two points common to both planes. In fact, to make the views of intersections is to find the views of common points. 3 4.2 Intersections of Planes and Revolutions (平面与回转体的交线) Incomplete revolutions occur frequently in engineering practice as shown in Figs.4.5(a), (b) and (c), so intersections exist on the revolutionary surfaces. Shape of intersections depends on the shape of the revolution and the location of the cuttingplane relative to the axis of the revolution. Intersections are straight line segments or curves. If it is a curve, a sufficient number of points must be located to obtain an accurate intersection. 4 Fig.4.5 Incomplete revolutions. 5 4.2.1 Intersection of a plane and a cylinder Chart 4.1 shows three possible cases. When the cutting plane is perpendicular to the axis of the cylinder, the intersection is a circle as shown in Chart 4.1 Column 1. When the cutting plane is oblique to the axis of the cylinder, the intersection is an ellipse as shown in Chart 4.1 Column 2. When the cutting plane is parallel to the axis of the cylinder, the intersections are two elements as shown in Chart 4.1 Column 3.  6 7 4.2.2 Intersections of a plane and a cone Chart 4.2 shows five types of intersections of a cone and a cutting plane, according to the different positions of the cutting plane. When a cone is cut by planes at different angles, fi
