The fundamental concepts of big data and its essential in the domain of healthcare and medicine were presented, the data sources and data characteristics were analyzed as well as the acquisition methods of medical data and healthcare information, the methods of data mining for medical healthcare information were listed with applications, including classification, regression, clustering, association rules, feature analysis and deviation analysis method. At last, the application in clinical supporting system, telemedicine, electronic records with public healthcare and disease pattern analysis were explained.
