Faculty of International Languages, Xiamen University of Technology , Xiamen 361005 , China) Abstract: Lin Yutang, who begins to receive Western education and is also tremendously influenced by it, does a great number of comparative literature researches in his various remarks and articles; and he deeply discusses SinoWestern literature relationship diachronically and synchronically by comprehend- sively combining the influence study and parallel study. His achievements in SinoWestern comparative literature research are so enlightening for later researchers that his transitional role in the first rise of Chinese comparative literature should not be neglected.
