Good morning everyone! So today, I’ve got a very practical, Career Sense 101, career planning
lesson for you. It’s, How To Develop Your Ability To Self-Assess Your Own Capabilities
And Performance.

I’ll start with a few questions. Are you someone who waits for performance reviews to find out
how well you’re doing your job? Or, do you mainly rely on others to tell you where you need to
improve? Well, what if you knew these things much earlier? Then how much faster do you think you
could develop and improve? I bet a lot.
先问你几个问题。你是不是要等着别人给你反馈,才知道 自己工作的怎么样?你是不是多数时候都要靠别人告
诉你哪里需要改进?如果你能早早了解这些事情,结果会怎么样呢?了解之后,成长和进步的速度又能提高多
少呢?我敢肯定,一定能提高许多。
Of course, formal reviews that give you feedback on your performance and development needs are
great. But how often do they happen? Once, twice a year? That’s a lot of time passing
by. Because people who improve and grow faster don’t wait. They actively self-assess their own
situation and capabilities to understand and work on them much earlier. Here are three things to
help you do this.

The first, recognize what others pay attention to most. Mainly, the KPIs, standards, and
expectations of your boss, your top management, and clients who evaluate what you do and who
determine your success. Make sure you align whatever you’re assessing about yourself with how
others view you in these areas, right?

For instance, I always made sure I clearly knew the top 3 success factors of whoever I was doing
