Lesson 17 Save the Tigers 一、教材分析 本单元是冀教版八年级下册unit 3 animals are our friends.主要围绕animals这一主题展开各种教学活动,本课是这个单元的第五课时,通过描述救助老虎的组织机构、老虎对于环境的重要性及老虎面临灭绝的危险,号召人们保护老虎,保护野生动物。 二、教学目标 知识与技能目标 1. 单词和短语 Century, fur, symbol, courage, brave, chain, balance, reason, disappear, kill, cut, decrease. At the beginning of, drop to, the number of, in balance, in danger, cut down, as well. 2. 重点句子 At the beginning of the 20th century, the number of tigers in the wild was around 100000. Today that number has dropped to a few thousand. The tiger is at the top of the food chain. It helps keep the number of other wild animals in balance. In recent years tigers have been in danger of disappearing. People have cut down a lot of trees as well. 过程与方法目标 在学习本课的过程中了解与掌握阅读的技巧。 情感态度与价值观目标 通过对本课的学习,让学生树立热爱动物,保护动物与我们生存环境的意识。 三、教学的重点难点 1. It is symbol of strength and courage. It has orange fur and dark stripes. Let students guess what the animal it is. Watch a video of the report. ① Let students see a report about the tigers’ situation. ②Discuss the following questions: a.Where can you usually see a tiger? b.Do you think tigers need our help ?
