This section asks students to read a fable-The Stone in the Road Then students are guided to write a review of the fable.
In the fable, a king placed a large stone in the middle of the road and hid gold coins under the stone in order to test his peoples attitude and reaction towards the obstacle. Many people simply complained about the stone but they were unwilling to remove it. In the end, a young girl moved away the stone and received both gold coins and praise from the king. The plot of the fable is simple but perfectly reveals its educational theme and profound insights.

1. retell the plot of the fable and state its moral value
2. express opinions on the similar cases happening in students own lives。
3. write a review of the moral fable based on the given outline, in which students should first give a short description of the writing, and then clearly state their opinions.

.Lead in to the topic of todays lesson by asking: Can you name some of the best-known fables? Whats the value of these fables?
Collect answers from the class. Then motivate students to read the fable on page 20.
Step 2 Reading for gist and the basic meaning
.Ask students to read the fable and answer the questions in Activity 1
Invite three students to report their answers to the class and let the rest of the class make corrections if any and check their own answe
