And the other aim is to introduce students to the stages in a scientific experiment. The guessing game in leading in is to find out what students have already known about famous scientists. So the exercises can be used to begin a discussion about science and scientists. Pre-reading is an important introduction to the reading and the stages in a scientific experiment. Reading is to introduce how John Snow, a British famous doctor, discovered and controlled the infectious disease-cholera by a scientific method. While reading, students can experience the thorough observation, brave and scientific research and devoted spirits of great scientists. By learning this text, students are required to know the orders of doing scientific research, which may help in their own later life, learn from the devoted spirits and hard work of scientists which are major parts for their success in their study and research, and also appreciate great people’s characteristics and qualities. 教学目标 To help students to talk about science and contributions of scientists. How to enable students to write a good composition using some expressions in this period. 教学过程 Step1:Lead-in Guessing game: Guess the name of some great scientists. (设计意图：通过猜和拼图的游戏，让学生回忆伟大的
