Big Bull Teaching aims and demands: By the end of the lesson, the students should be able to: 1. Understand the story well; 2. Read the story fluently; 3. Learn some reading skills,such as finding out all the characters by observing the pictures,retelling the story according to the key words,etc. Main points and difficulties: 1. To read the story fluently and emotionally; 2. To retell the story according to the key words. Teaching steps: Step 1 Pre - reading 1. Enjoy a song about animals. 2. Talk about animals . Step 2 While - reading 1. Listen and guess: What animal is it? 2. Look at the picture and answer questions: What’s the name of the story? What can you see from the picture? 3. Read the story quickly and find out all the characters in the story. 4. Read P2-3 and find out : What did the Big Bull say? Then let Ss try to read like a Big Bull. 5. Read P4-5 and find out: What did Big Bull shout? What happened to the rooster? 6. Read P6-7 and fill in the blanks: What happened to the goats? 7. Look at the pictures and answer questions: Where was Big Bull? What happened to the hen house? Did Big Bull stop? Then learn the new phrases: run after / run away / went crash 8. Read P8-9 and find out: What did the farmer say to Big Bull ? And then let students try to act like the farmer and blame Big Bull. 9. Read P10-11 together and learn the new words and phrases: go away / stay away / truck 10. Read P12-13 and answer : What’s farmer’s advice? Was he a Big Bull at last? How do you know that? 11. Listen and repeat the whole story. 12. Ss try to read the whole story by themselves. Step 3 Post- reading 1. Ask students to retell the whole story with T according to the key words on the blackboard. 2. Group work: 4 in a group, act out the story. Step 4 Homework 1. Try to retell the story: Big Bull 2. Choose one of the writers’ other stories and r
