Teaching aims:

learn the basic use of subjunctive mood and emphatic sentence;

develop basic reading skills: fast reading and detailed reading, to draw a summary and answer several questions after reading;
Emotional aims:
find the moral lesson of the novel;
become more confident to express their ideas through discussing with their partners;
Analysis of students:
students has basic vocabulary of this module, so it is easy for them to read the passage.
are active and interested in learning science fiction and have an interest in English
Focal points:
Complete different tasks through different ways of reading, including fast reading and detailed reading.
Difficult points:
Understand subjunctive mood and use emphatic sentence pattern.
Teaching procedures:
Stage 1: Greet students as usual.
Stage 2: Leading in:
Share (he movie I have watched last night: Frankenstein.
Stage 3: Pre-reading:
Step I: Show pictures to present the topic of the class: horror film and introduce some new words.
Step 2: Share some information about the author Mary Shelly to arouse students interest to read.
Stage 4: While-reading:
Step 1: Read part 1 and then find the main idea.
Step 2: Read part 1 again carefully and answer several questions.
Step 3: Quickly go through part 2 and match the main idea with each paragraph.
Step 4: Read part 2 paragraph by paragraph and then do some relevant exercises to help students understand this part well.
Stage 5: post-reading:
Show time: go over the language points
Students will be invited to choose his favorite number, and find the lucky question and do as the instruction says.
