Brief Introduction to the Discipline 材料类专业涵盖材料科学与工程（代码：080401 ）、材料物理（代码：080402 ）和功能材 料（代码：080412T ）三个专业。本材料类专业采用“1+3”培养模式。 材料类专业的主干学科是材料科学与工程，研究材料的组成、结构、合成与制备、性质 及使役性能等基本要素及其相互关系的科学。本材料类专业是在原国家建材局布局西部建筑 材料人才培养基地的基础上发展而成，以国家战略及区域经济发展对材料的需求为导向，立 足四川，面向西部，服务全国，培养具有坚实的自然科学基础和材料科学与工程专业基础， 具有良好的人文社会科学素养和较强的工程素质、实践能力、创新创业意识，德智体美劳全 面发展的复合型高级技术人才。学生毕业后主要就业于建工建材、电子、国防、环境、交通 等领域的企事业单位、高等院校，从事与材料相关的科学研究、技术开发、经营管理与教学 等工作。 Material discipline of Southwest University of Science and Technology (SWUST) consists of three majors, including Material Science and Engineering (code: 080401), Material Physics (code: 080402) and Functional Material (code: 080412T), adopting “1+3” training pattern. Material Science and Engineering, as the dominating major, studies the basic elements of materials composition, structure, synthesis and preparation, properties and enabling properties and their interrelationships. The material discipline is developed on the basis of the former western construction materials talent training base of National Building Materials Bureau. Guided by the national strategy and regional economic development demand for materials, it aims to cultivate the comprehensive senior technical personnel in Sichuan, as well as in the west, so as to serve the whole country, who will have a solid foundation of natural sciences and materials science and engineering, good humanities and social sciences literacy and sophisticated engineering quality, practical ability, innovation and entrepreneurial awareness.
