Grammar is one inseparable of language formation. If learners do not abide by certain grammar rules, they can not convey the information exactly and achieve communicative purposes. In recent years, many English teachers in senior high school feel grammar teaching very troublesome. They try to avoid grammar teaching in open classes. English grammar teaching in senior high school often goes two extremes. On the one hand, teachers pay more attention to the explanation of grammar knowledge, regarding the examination as the ultimate aim and the sole valuation standard. Many English examinations lay stress on grammar. To adapt to this, teachers have to spend large amounts of time and energy teaching grammar in class, which makes students feel language learning is very dull, thus greatly lowering their zeal in English learning?.This teaching method ignores the development of listening, speaking, reading and writing and makes students become a?“practice machine”. So what students have learned is only a kind of ability of dealing with examination, or as we refer to?“dumb English” and?“deaf English”. On the other hand, many English teachers advocate that grammar teaching should be weakened and even ignored. They think English teaching should put particular emphasis on spoken English and cultivating communicative ability. We began to study our mother tongue when we were one year old. Because of the lively language environment, we can form a kind of sense of language and obtain communicative ability. However, Chinese students learn English mainly in class. Due to a lack of a genuine language environment, short-term memory students have formed in class often is weakened gradually.
