Foreign language, especially English, has become and will continue to be an important tool of international communication. To meet the needs of the new situation, English teachers should make studies of teaching methods for improvement. Carrying on teaching reform should switch from teacher-centered teaching model, which means teachers are talking most of the time while students are listening, to students-centered teaching model.?English reading classes are divided into intensive reading class and extensive reading class. The former focuses on language skills, while the latter aims to improve reading skills. Both language skills and reading skills are very important. When teachers try to teach students language points, they should also make full use of classes to cultivate their creative thinking and improve their ability.?????????????????????????????????? This paper analyses the classifications and importance English reading class, the definition and characteristics of creative thinking, and points out the common disadvantages existing in our current teaching of English reading class combined with teaching experiences, then this paper explores the new ways of developing students’ creative thinking in English reading class, improving low efficiency, and the reading skills. This thesis analyzes the factors that impede the cultivation of students’ creative thinking ability. After illustrating these, it explores ways of cultivating the creative thinking.
