Reading is a kind of thinking activity through which readers can obtain information. Reading, it will involve reading skills. In terms of the principle of quality education, training students’ ability is the basis of school education. If students want to master the foreign language that they learn, they have to learn about customs, way of life in some western society, namely cultural background knowledge. The mastery and application of reading skills not only enables students to obtain a huge amount of knowledge mentioned above through reading in schools, but also can make them calmly face the new environment, new job and new knowledge when they leave school. Therefore, the teaching of reading should or even must focus on cultivating and enhancing reading skills. In the process of reading, readers may read different materials, use different methods to express thoughts or give statements. They may have different levels of language, cognitive abilities, and purposes of reading. So the methods of reading are different. Cultivating and improving reading skills is to teach students different reading methods and to make them promptly adjust their reading methods according to different reading materials in different reading activities in order to achieve the best reading effect.Reading comprehension ability refers to a complex psychological process in which readers make use of their own experience, knowledge, logical thinking and background knowledge to predict, to think, and to obtain information.1 Chinese students spend at least six years or more than ten years studying English, but many of them still have poor reading ability?(especially reflects in the college entrance examination and CET-4, CET-6).
