Introduction Nonverbal communication means that all nonverbal stimuli in a communication setting are generated by both the source and receiver. These nonverbal takes often account for as much as 70% of the conversation. The importance of nonverbal communication has been established. Barnlund once pointed out the reasons why this form of communication is very important in his study1?: many, and sometimes most, of the critical meanings generated in human encounters are elicited by touch, glance, vocal nuance, gesture, or facial expression with or without the aid of words. From the moment of recognition until the moment of separation, people observe each other with all their senses, hearing pause and intonation, attending to dress and carriage, observing glance and facial tension, as well as noting word choice and syntax?. From these words, we know nonverbal communication often expresses people’s internal states?(attitudes and emotions). In fact, it arrives before the verbal and influences the flow of the interaction. So people can use nonverbal messages to communicate with others, to clarify what others are feeling, including yours, and to even sometime mislead others etc. Guerrero, DeVito, and Hecht once claimed,?“nonverbal communication is all around us?.”? The nonverbal communication is multi-channeled and it involves a subtle set of nonlinguistic behaviors that are often enacted outside of a persons conscious awareness. The present paper attempts to apply theories of nonverbal communication, its functions and relationship with verbal communication to the analysis of nonverbal communication at practical action, and develop this topic from three aspects: body language, paralanguage, object language. 2. Nonverbal Communication The forefinger-to-thumb gesture can mean?“OK” in the United States. In France, it means zero or worthless. In Japan, the same gesture can mean?“money”, but it
