He carried out his postdoctoral training with Professor R Alan North, FRS at University of Sheffield (now University of Manchester), UK. He is currently a lecturer in the Faculty of Biological Sciences, University of Leeds. He is member of the Physiological Society (UK), Biochemical Society (UK), Society for Neuroscience (USA), American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and Biophysical Society (USA). He has been an invited reviewer by the UK governmental funding agents, Biotechnology and Biological Science Research Council (BBSRC) and Medical Research Council (MRC), and also by scientific journals, including J Neurochem, J Physiol, Am J Physiol Cell Physiol, Mol Cell Life Sci, Neuropharmacology, Br J Pharmacol, and Neurosci Lett. His research focuses on molecular physiology and pharmacology of P2X receptors and TRP channels. He has published 18 papers in reputed international scientific journals, which have been attracted 500 citations. Weifang Rong obtained BSc in Medical Sciences and PhD in Physiology from Second Military Medical University, China. He received postdoctoral trainings in University of Auckland, New Zealand, University of Tsukuba, Japan, University College London and University of Sheffield, UK. He is currently
