RD Center, Chongqing Jianshe Industry Cooperation, Chongqing 400050) Abstract ：With the aim of the noise and vibration issue of an 250cc ATV, the relationship of vibration between the exhaust muffler and the engine, as well as the influence of noise radiation were studied. The calculated vibration modes were obtained through the 3D geometry modeling, FEM meshing and computing. The fashion and frequency value of calculation is very close to that of experimental mode tests. It’s clear that the first, second and third mode frequencies of the muffler installed on a test ATV are no far from the fundamental frequency of reciprocating inertial force, which implies that there will exhibit resonance when ATV run on certain speed. The first one is also close to the frequency of exhaust gas, which means that there will generate regeneration noise.
