It is pointed out that cogn itive lin gu istic s is the in terdiscip linary study on cogn ition and language wh ich ha s the attributes of both natural science and social science s. The research m ethod s in cogn itive lingu istic s are from m any other field s of science, wh ich can be categorized into qualitative re search and quan titative research. Generally, cogn itive lingu istic s adop ts the re search m ethod s from an eclecti cism p ersp ective. Excep t u sing the in tro sp ection and individual intu ition, cogn itive lingu ists u sc the re search findings ill xp erim en tal p sychology and the data ill language acqu isition studie s, and, the language con tra st and comp arison based on the m ethodo logy of h istorical lingu istic s are also u tilized by the scho lars in cogn itive lingu istic s; m ethod s m dialect re search and corpu s lingu istics are of reat help s in revealing the cogn itive op eration s in language.
