Created by Cola Benefits Office * USC Leave Policies Presented by Dora Woodrow Benefits Manager School of Medicine * Qualifications for Paid Leave Employee must be in a qualified benefits eligible position Research grant employees must be eligible for earned leave in accordance with the grant agreement * Types of Qualified Paid Leave Annual Sick Holiday Other Leave with pay * Annual Leave /policies/hr103.pdf Accrual 1 - 10 years: 15 days a calendar year = 9.38 hours a month 11 years plus: an additional 1 ? day increase for each year Usage May use up to 30 days of annual leave in a calendar year Department approval required * Annual Leave Carry-over Maximum 45 days will be carried forward to the next year (at the end of the calendar year) Donation to Leave Pool Maximum of ? of your accrued leave each year May not be designated to a specific individual * Sick leave /policies/hr106.pdf Accrual 15 days per calendar year = 9.38 hours a month Usage May use up to 10 days of sick leave to care for an immediate family member Sick Leave in excess of 10 days requires HR approval Leave taken pursuant to this policy may qualify as FMLA leave and, if so, will run concurrently. * Sick Leave Carry-over Maximum 180 days will be carried forward to the next year (at the end of the calendar year) Donation to Leave Pool Maximum of ? of your accrued leave each year May not be designated to a specific individual * Paid Holiday /policies/hr115.pdf 12 paid holidays Observance of paid holiday may differ within School of Medicine departments (Check with HR for observance schedule) * Other Leave with Pay /policies/hr109.pdf Military Disaster services Blood/Bone Marrow/Organ Donations Court (Jury) Leave Bereavement Other * Military Leave with Pay /policies/hr109.pdf For National Guard or Reserve Armed Forces called to active duty 15 days: Active Duty Training Additional 30 days: For Emergency deployment purposes Long Term Military Leave May use 45 days of annual leave May use 90 days
