T echnology Center, Masteel, Maanshan 243000, Anhui, China) Abstract: T he techniques of the ultra low sulfur steel based on the production of X70/ X80 pipeline steel w as investi gated. And t he control of [ S] content during the process from BO to L was analyzed. T he increase of the cont ent of sulfur during BO blowing is mainly caused by molten iron slag after pretreatment and scrap, the L deep desul phurization depends on the control of the top slag and the strong stirring power. By technologic adjustment, during the production of X70/ X80 pipeline steel, the [S] at the end of L is controlled stably below 0.0050% , and the av erage [ S] is 0.001 1% .
