Methods Atotalof209diabeticpatientswithoutanyantihyperglycemichistorywererecruitedand treatedwithrepaglinideorrosiglitazonerandomlyfor48weeks(104and105patients,respectively). Anthropometricmeasurementsandclinicallaboratorytestswerecarriedoutbeforeandafterthe treatment.Annon-synonymousvariantrasgenotypedbymatrix-assistedlaserdesorption ionization-timeofflightmassspectroscopy. Results Ninety-onepatientsinrepaglinidegroupandninety-threepatientsinrosiglitazonegroup completedthestudy.Avalueofhomeostasismodelassessmentofbetacellfunction(HOMA-B)andA valueoffastingproinsulinlevelswerestatisticallysignificantbetweenthreegenotypegroups(P=0.0149 and0.0246,respectively)afterrosiglitazonetreatment.However,nogenotypeassociationwas observedintherepaglinideorrosiglitazonegroupwithotherparameters. Conclusion TheSLC30A8variantwasassociatedwiththeefficacyofinsulinsensitizermonotherapyon insulinsecretioninpatientswithnewlydiagnosedtype2diabetesmellitusinShangha
