Since the reform and opening up of China, Chinas economy has experienced rapid development, but the financial system has been lagging behind. Chinas money supply has been the intermediate target of monetary policy for a long time, however, with the continuous deepening of Chinas economic development, its disadvantages have become more and more gradually and its challenge has become more and more serious. How can we strengthen the regulatory effect of monetary policy under the new situation to make research on the intermediate target of monetary policy urgent again? This paper introduces the related concept and significance of intermediate target firstly. And they are summarized by practice which is from a different era, different uses in different situation of different countries and different financial variables as the intermediate target, then we can find problems and advantages.
