On the top of the hill stands a brave young girl. Under the big tree sits a handsome man, thinking and smiling. When the subject is too long, full inversion is used. When the sentence begins with only ,partial inversion is used. And tell the students to note that when “only” modifies the subject, we do not invert the subject and the predicate.
