Appendices Appendix 1 Doctoral Studies in Poland Appendix 1Doctoral Studies in Poland At present, doctoral studies (3–4 years) are offered at numerous departments of public universities/colleges. Applicants must hold an M.Sc./M.A. degree or equivalent degree. The doctoral degree (Ph.D.) is granted on the basis of the passing of Ph.D. examinations and the acceptance by the examination board of a Ph.D. thesis. The degree is granted by duly authorised department councils. Foreign students may be admitted for Ph.D. studies if they have a master’s degree diploma obtained in Poland or a legalised diploma or similar document confirming completion of university-level studies abroad, recognised under separate regulations as equivalent to the Polish master’s degree diploma.
