The Human Development Career Library Child Care/Aid Worker Description Monitors and cares for children in schools, businesses, or institutions. Performs a variety of tasks such as dressing, feeding, bathing, and overseeing play. Typical Tasks ? Provides individual and group care for children in an institutional setting. ? Organizes and participates in recreational activities and games. ? Initiates measures to control behavior, such as fair play with others and picking up toys. ? Instructs children on good health and personal habits, such as eating, caring for clothing, and toilet habits. ? Assists in preparing and serving meals and refreshments to children. ? Reads to children, and teaches them simple painting, drawing, crafts, and songs. ? Wheels handicapped children to classes and other areas, and secures equipment.
