Study on Biogeography of the Family Fanniidae from China (Diptera: Cyclorrhapha) Abstract The family Fanniidae belongs to suborder Cyclorrhapha, order Diptera and there are approximately 335 species of 4 genera worldwide so far. Taxonomy, phylogenesis and biogeography studies on Fanniidae provide the theoretical basis for the related fields of agriculture and medicine, as well as the conservation of biological diversity. There are a little biogeography researches on Fanniidae, and no deeper level of results available. The Fanniidae species in China accounted for more than 40% of that known allover the world, so it is necessary to put into deeper biogeography research base on these abundant taxonomy data of Fanniidae from China. China is ideal place to carry on the study of species evolution and differentiation, regional fauna as well as faunal region due to its special geological history. In this paper, GIS (Geographic Information System) software, PAE (Parsimony Analysis of Endemicity) and historical biogeography theory were combined to carry through this study. Base on Fanniidae specimens distribution data in the Institute of Entomology, Shenyang Normal University, and 89 journals and monographs, a database of Chinese Fanniidae distribution was erected. A catalogue with distribution information of Chinese Fanniidae was provided, totally 140 species of 3 genera, accounting for 41.79% of that known worldwide. Besides 89 species endemic to China, 49 species in Palaearctic Region, 9 species in Oriental Region, 30 species in Nearctic Region, 4 species in Ethiopian Region, 4 species in Neotropical Region, 5 species in Oriental Region; Southwest Chin
