Research and Grant Development 2008 - 2009 * A N N U A L __ R E P O R T From the District Grant Writer/Research Analyst Grant Development Office I am please to present the 2008 – 2009 annual report of the Grant Development Office under the Department of Federal Programs. The Laredo Independent School District has had a historic year within its grants program. This continued success has a direct impact on the educational programs and services. This report has three parts: 1) a summary of grants with a description of activities that took place during the year, including several success stories, 2) a breakdown of grant awards by department and/or program, and 3) an appendix containing a detailed list of all individual awards. During the 2008 – 2009 school year the Grant Development Office submitted 61 applications and processed 20 awards totaling $23,694,756.00. This represents an increase of 69% in the number of applications submitted and a 15% increase in the number of grants awarded. Currently there are 13 grant application that have been submitted pending approval for a total of $11,436,344.00. During the Fiscal year of 2008 – 2009, 19 campuses received funding for summer enrichment, student clubs, school furniture, library media services, physical education, science lab construction, accelerated instruction in reading and math, pre-kindergarten programs, intensive reading and math initiatives, school improvement, professional development and parental/community involvement programs/projects. There is an anticipated interest in increased activity this coming school year for additional proposal submissions through various funding sources. This first annual report is designed to inform all stakeholders in the types of grant application submissions for external funding sources to supplement our current programs and services. Currently, there are 19 grants being funded for a total of $21,819,756.00. Overall, in 2008 – 2009 funding has totaled $24,752,947.00
