The resuIts indicate ， that there is onI y a IittIe shorten （ 5 mm / a or so ） about SN direction in western p art of the Oin g hai-Tibet p Iateau ， however no shorten evidence is discovered in its eastern p art ； that constriction in SN direc- tion mostI y took p Iace in XimaIa y a beIt of the south ed g e which is in the p Iateau ， the ma g nitude is about 15 mm / a ， and the same directionaI variance ha pp ened in the west of Oaidam in the middIe of the north ed g e in the p Iateau and in the Tianshan area which Iocates north of the p Iateau aIso in its ad acent re g ion ， the ma g nitude is about 15 mm / a too ； that there is about 10 mm / a extension in EW direction in Oin g hai-Tibet p Iateau ； that the eastward movement in east ed g e of the western China is stron g er in south and weaker in north ； that the rhombic Sichuan-Yunnan BIock is not a esca p e bIock but a deformation bIock ； that the east ed g e of the Tibet p Iateau and its vicinit y are decIine areas in east direction ； the surface strain resuIts show that the constriction is found a
