 PAGE \* MERGEFORMAT 5 Effects of losartan on lung fibrosis in rats with nitric oxide and endothelin- 1 synthesis in Authors: Pei Yu-hua, Yang Chun-Song, DING You-ming [Abstract] Objective To observe the lungs of nitric oxide (NO) and endothelin- 1 (ET  1) in the anticancer drug bleomycin (BLM)-induced pulmonary interstitial fibrosis in the process of dynamic change of chlorine losartan on rat model of pulmonary fibrosis and its mechanism of action. Methods 45 Wistar rats were randomly divided into blank group, model group and losartan treatment group, caused by intratracheal instillation of BLM lung fibrosis model, infusion started the next day gavage. Observe each group animals, histopathological changes in lungs, plasma and lung tissue NO2-/NO3-, ET  1 content and hydroxyproline content of lung tissue changes. The results of lung tissue and plasma NO2-/NO3- content increased rapidly after intratracheal instillation BLM, the first 14 days and reached the peak (as compared with the control group, P amp;lt;0.01), in the first 28 days returned to normal. Lung ET  1 levels significantly increased (compared with the control group, P amp;lt;0.01). Losartan significantly reduced lung NO, ET  1 increased, the slow development of pulmonary fibrosis. Conclusions NO and ET  1 in BLM-induced lung fibrosis in the occurrence and development play an important role, losartan inhibited through NO, ET  1 generation to achieve the purpose of treatment of pulmonary fibrosis.
