Methods 16 male 21 week old SHR were randomly divided into 2 groups, namely saline, f. alba group to WKY rats were used as negative control. Were given 10 ml / kg (15 g / kg) of saline, aqueous extract of Salvia miltiorrhiza. Recorded before administration 1 h, 4 h after administration, blood pressure, and Smyth method with modified stress reflex sensitivity (BRS). Results Compared with WKY, SHR blood pressure saline group, systolic blood pressure fluctuation, diastolic blood pressure fluctuation and volatility of mean arterial blood pressure was significantly higher (P lt;0.01), BRS was significantly lower (P lt;0.01). Compared with the saline group, miltiorrhiza group within 4 h after administration, SHR no significant changes in blood pressure (Pgt; 0.05). With the WKY group and the saline group, after administration 4 h, systolic blood pressure fluctuation, diastolic blood pressure fluctuation and volatility of mean arterial pressure were significantly lower (P lt;0.05), and BRS was significantly higher (P lt;0.05) . Conclusion Single application of aqueous extract of Salvia miltiorrhiza no significant antihypertensive effect on SHR, but can reduce BPV, may be related to improvement of baroreflex function.
