Method In the dry states, the static and kinetic frictional force of different combinations of 2 kinds of free  edge brackets and 2 kinds of conventional brackets coupled with 4 kinds of archwires were tested. Result When Free  edge bracket’s middle wings were ligated, the frictional force was decreased to zero; when Free  edge bracket ‘six wings were ligated, the frictional force was greatest . Free  edge bracket solved the contradiction between less frictional force and better tooth control, the bracket improved the capability of the series of edgewise fixed appliance. Conclusion The free  edge bracket solved the contradiction between less frictional force and improved the capability of edgewised fixed application, increase the effectiveness of orthodontic treatment.
