 PAGE \* MERGEFORMAT 5 Insulin pump therapy in elderly type 2 diabetic patients observed [Abstract] Objective To compare insulin pump (CSII) and multiple subcutaneous insulin (MSII) of poor blood glucose control in elderly type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients with the treatment efficacy and safety. Methods 58 elderly patients with T2DM were randomly assigned to CSII group (30 cases) and MSII group (28 cases), for insulin therapy. 2 groups were measured before and after treatment both before and after meals and before bed blood sugar, blood glucose control the time, daily insulin dosage, the frequency of hypoglycemia, as well as treatment of glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) level and statistical analysis. The results of two groups are able to achieve the target blood glucose values, but the compliance time CSII blood glucose control, insulin dosage and the incidence of hypoglycemia were significantly less than the MSII group (P amp;lt;0.01), CSII therapy HbA1c levels were significantly lower than the MSII group (P amp;lt; 0.01). Conclusion CSII effective means to simulate physiological insulin secretion, for elderly patients with T2DM can be faster and more effectively control high blood sugar, reduce the incidence of low blood sugar, and the effects can continue a long time.
