Protein kinase 5 and microtubule-associated protein tau phosphorylation in the relationship between the Authors: Hui Hu, Wang Ping, Ming Wang, DING Feng-Min Abstract Alzheimer’s disease (Alzheimer’s disease, AD) is a form of dementia characterized by progressive neurodegenerative disease, to severe memory loss and cognitive impairment as the main clinical manifestations. Related to the pathogenesis of AD is currently not very clear. Hyperphosphorylation of tau protein in neurofibrillary tangles composed of (NFT) are neuropathological features of AD, one of the principal. Cyclin-dependent protein kinase 5 (cyclin  dependent kinase 5, cdk5) activation mainly in the nervous system is a brain development, nerve location, synaptic transmission occurs with an important regulator of factors involved in the brain of tau protein in AD patients abnormal phosphorylation, in the pathogenesis of AD, may play an important role. This article briefly describes the structure and distribution of cdk5 site, tau protein structure and function, cdk5 on microtubule-associated protein tau phosphorylation in the relationship between a preliminary study for clinical prevention and treatment AD to provide some new ideas.
