Authors have applied the method Salter pelvic osteotomy for treatment of children with Legg  Perthes disease, this paper aims to explore the cases of surgical treatment of mature skeletal morphology after the femoral head, femoral head and acetabulum of the matching degree, and tried to review the literature from the system determine the surgical indications and methods. [Method] in 1994 before taking Salter pelvic osteotomy for treatment of 16 cases of Legg  Perthes disease tracking observation. The patients mean age at surgery was 6 years 7 months. 12 patients received an average of 10 years and 3 months of follow-up, the average age of 17 years 2 months, its proximal femoral epiphyseal plate and Y-shaped acetabular cartilage have been completely closed, indicating that the hip has been developed fully mature. Stulberg literature followed the standard evaluation method of X-ray results assessed. [Results] The group of 12 cases classified as Stulberg Ⅰ grade 4 cases (33%), Stulberg Ⅱ 6 cases (50%), Stulberg Ⅲ grade 1 cases (8%), Stulberg Ⅳ grade 1 cases (8%), No cases of Stulberg Ⅴ grade. The average limb shortening 1.5 cm (0.8 ~ 2.0 cm), hip joint function was within the normal range, there is no clinically significant gait abnormalities. [Conclusion] Salter pelvic osteotomy can make avascular necrosis of the femoral head to obtain the satisfaction of shaping, restoration and matching acetabular anatomical relationship, which helps prevent the early development of osteoarthritis.
