Methods:Toinvestigatetheaboveaddressedquestion:(a)independent,two-sidedt-tests,(b)alinear discriminantanalysiswithaforwardstepwisevariableselectionalgorithm,(c)fourclassi?cationtree analysesand(d)threedifferentneuralnetworkmodelswithaforward,backwardandageneticvariable selectionalgorithmwereappliedto1020subjectswithanormalvisual?eldand110subjectswitha glaucomateousvisual?elddefect.TheHumphreyVisualFieldAnalyzerwasusedtotestthevisual ?eldsandtheTopSSw ScanningLaserTomographmeasuredtheopticnervetopography.A10-fold cross-validation method was used for the models (b), (c) and (d) to compute approximative 95% con?denceintervalsforthespeci?cityandsensitivityrates.
