We report on an aqueous synthesis of cadmium telluride (CdTe) nanocrystals by using dithiol-functionalized ionic liquids (dTFILs).ThedTFILsweredesignedtohavedithiolandvinylimidazoliumfunctionalgroupsandusedasaligandmoleculeofCdTe quantumdot(QD)toutilizethebidendatechelateinteractiona?ordedbythedithiolgroupsofdTFILs.Thephotoluminescence quantumyieldofdTFIL-cappedCdTeQDsreachedupto～40%,andtheirluminescentpropertywasmaintainedfor8weeks, suggestinganimprovedstabilityinwaterphase.ThisapproachwillprovideanewsyntheticroutetothewatersolubleQDs. 1.Introduction Inthisregard,thedirectsynthesisofQDsinwaterphase providesanattractivealternativebecauseofitssimplicityand useofrelativelysoftcondition[25–27].Priorreportsshowed that cadmium telluride (CdTe) QDs with moderately high photoluminescencequantume?ciency(QE)havebeenpro- duced via aqueous synthetic route with a thiol capping li- gandssuchasmercaptocarbonicacid,2-aminoethanethiol, anddihydrolipoicacid[28–30].However,theenvironmental instabilityofQDspreparedbyaqueoussyntheticmethodwas alsoreported.Ther
