Inthisreview,wediscusshowprotozoanparasitesalterimmatureandmatureBcellcompartment.B1andmarginalzone(MZ) Bcells,consideredinnatelikeBcells,areactivatedduringprotozoanparasiteinfections,andtheygenerateshortlivedplasma cells providing a prompt antibody source. In addition, protozoan infections induce massive B cell response with polyclonal activationthatleadstohypergammaglobulnemiawith serumantibodiesspeci?cfortheparasitesandselfand/ornonrelated antigens.Toprotectthemselves,theparasiteshaveevolveduniquewaystoevadeBcellimmuneresponsesinducingapoptosisof MZandconventionalmatureBcells.Asaconsequenceoftheparasiteinduced-apoptosis,theearlyIgMresponseandanalready establishhumoralimmunityarea?ectedduringtheprotozoanparasiteinfection.Moreover,sometrypanosomatidestriggerbone marrowimmatureBcellapoptosis,in?uencingthegenerationofnewmatureBcells.Simultaneouslywiththeirabilitytorelease antibodies,Bcellsproducecytokines/quemokinesthatin?uencethecharacteristicofcellularimmuneresponseandconsequently theprogressionofparasiteinfections. 1.BCellsCanPlayProtectiveandPathogenic RolesinProtozoanInfections repo
