Objectives.Toexploreifself-perceivedoverweightinnormalweightadolescentsin?uencetheirweightdevelopmentintoyoung adulthoodandifso,whetherphysicalactivitymoderatesthisassociation.Methods.Alongitudinalstudyof1196normalweight adolescents(13–19yrs)whowerefollowedupasyoungadults(24–30yrs)intheHUNTstudy.Lifestyleandhealthissueswere assessed employing questionnaires, and standardized anthropometric measurements were taken. Chi square calculations and regressionanalyseswereperformedtoinvestigatetheassociationsbetweenself-perceivedoverweightandchangeinBMIorwaist circumference(WC)adjustedforage,agesquared,sex,andotherrelevantcofactors.Results.Adolescents,de?nedasbeingnormal weight,butwhoperceivedthemselvesasoverweighthadalargerweightgainintoyoungadulthoodthanadolescentswhoperceived themselvesasnormalweight(di?erenceinBMI:0.66units[CI95%:0.1,1.2]andinWC:3.46cm[CI95%:1.8,5.1]).Levelof physicalactivitywasnotfoundtomoderatethisassociation.Conclusions.Thisstudyrevealsthatself-perce
