A bimetallic Pt-Ru nanoparticle catalyst was prepared and characterized for the enhancement of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) detectioninbiosensingapplications.Theparticlesweresynthesizedviasodiumborohydridereduction,withlowheattreatment, andcharacterizedbyTEMandHRTEM.ThechemicalcompositionanalyseswereperformedbyEDX.Thebimetallicparticle diametersrangedfrom2to12nm,withanaverageof4.5nm.ThePt-Rucatalystexhibitedanimprovedperformanceatlow overpotential(+0.2VversusAg/AgClreferenceelectrode)inH2O2detection,suggestingasensitivityvalueof78.95μA·mM?1 (or 402.1μA·mM?1·cm?2)whichwas30%higherthanthatforthesinglePtcatalyst.Themajorcontributionofthisenhancement comes from the stronger oxygen adsorption on Ru metal.
