Afterwards, there were two reports on harmonic maps by EellsandLemaire2,3in1978and1988.Biharmonicmaps,whichgeneralizedharmonic maps,were?rststudiedbyJiang4,5in1986.Inthisdecade,therehasbeenprogressin biharmonic maps made by Caddeo et al. 6, 7, Loubeau and Oniciuc 8, Montaldo and Oniciuc9,ChiangandWolak10,ChiangandSun11,12,Changetal.13,Wang14,15, andsoforth. Wave maps are harmonic maps on Minkowski spaces, and their equations are the second-order hyperbolic systems of partial di?erential equations, which are related to Einstein’s equations and Yang-Mills ?elds. In recent years, there have been many new developmentsinvolvinglocalwell-posednessandglobal-wellposednessofwavemapsinto RiemannianmanifoldsachievedbyKlainermanandMached
